Hundreds of bloggers gathering in Portland to help shine spotlight on Oregon wine
Nearly 400 wine-enthusiasts, most from out of state, descend on Portland this week packing the power to change the way Oregon's commercial wine industry does business.
The 370 registered participants for the5th annual Wine Bloggers Conference wield substantial financial clout in their own right. Collectively, they are booking hundreds of motel rooms, filling restaurants and spending lavishly on shopping and sightseeing.
But their real clout is the collective message they will send to the world after the conference, which is precisely why the state's $2.7 billion wine industry is paying such close attention to them
