The Oregon Senate approved a bill Thursday allowing wine to be sold in refillable "growlers," similar to the way that brewpubs sell beer today.
Sen. Lee Beyer, D-Springfield, showed his colleagues on the Senate floor a pair of wine growlers, suggesting the bill would bring parity to the marketplace, treating wine the same way the state treats beer.
House Bill 2443 passed in an unanimous vote in the Senate.
During committee testimony on the bill, Kara Olmo, owner of Wooldridge Creek Vineyard and Winery in Grants Pass, said growler sales would reduce waste and cost.
